Intel Announces 9th Gen CPUs along with Xeon & X-Series Processors
After almost a year since 8th generation processors were launched, Intel has announced its 9th Gen CPUs with better specs and speed. The company claims that its top-end release is going to be the best gaming PC processor the world has ever witnessed.
Given the much-anticipated increment of threads and cores and a decent boost in the performance, this claim could be valid.
Besides, it’s a brilliant attempt from Intel to be on par with AMD’s Ryzen 2nd Generation processors and ensure that users can have the world-class experience they have been expecting for a long time.
Intel 9th Gen CPU Features and Specs
As part of the 9th Generation range, three new CPUs have been announced — the i5-9600K, the i7-9700K and the i9-9900K. While the underlying architecture of these processors still has the 14-nm Skylake design that was first unveiled three years back, most specs and performance quality have been improved by a significant margin.
The i9-9900K variant features a 5.0 base clock speed, whereas the other two — the. i7-9700K and i5-9600K — come with 4.9 and 4.6 base clock speed, respectively. The top-end model is bundled with a 16MB Intel smart cache, followed by 12MB and 9MB in the i7 and i5 variants.
Intel believes that, with such excellent clock speed and specs, the i9-9900K is the fastest gaming PC processor in the world, with its 5GHz broad volume. It comes with STIM, or Solder Thermal Interface Material (known to be a perfect heat dissipation resource), to minimise the risk of overheating.
Price of Intel 9th Gen Processors
The best thing about 9th gen CPU models is their pricing. Most market experts were expecting them to be launched at much higher prices, but Intel shocked them all by launching the Core i5-9600K at just $262, the Core i7-9700K at $374 and the Core i9-9900K at $488. Bearing in mind their specifications compared to previous generation models, the prices look more than affordable.
Given the advanced features, speed and specs of these three models, there is no reason developers and desktop gaming enthusiasts should delay opting for a 9th Gen CPU.
These models are available for purchase as of October 19th 2018, so now’s the time to move if you want to give your system an edge over others, improve its performance and have the perfect gaming experience without worrying about overheating.
Intel Xeon and X Series Announcement
In addition to its 9th Gen CPUs, Intel also announced two new processors — the Xeon W-3175X and X-Series range. The Intel Xeon has 28 cores and delivers an optimised performance for professional creatives. It comes unlocked so, if you want, you can easily overclock it. According to Intel, shipping will start from December 2018 — just in time for a Christmas upgrade.
The X-Series, on the other hand, comes packed with 13 threads and 18 cores, allowing users to experience better video rendering and speed compared to previous generation processors. The X-Series CPUs will be available for purchase from November 2018.
